St. Gertrude's Choir is a weekly gathering for those looking to help heighten and contribute to the liturgy. All are welcome to help make a joyful noise! While no experience is necessary, potential choir members must be able to hold a melody. Whether you can read music or learn by ear, you are welcome to join. If you are new and want to give choir a try without any long-term commitment, we will always encourage to give it a shot! These opportunities are made to praise God and build community first and foremost.
Rehearsals happen weekly on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 pm and then on Sundays at 9:30 am before the 10:30 am Mass. The choir season starts after Labor Day and lasts until Corpus Christi (late May/mid-June). Our first rehearsal for the 2025/2026 season will be on September 3, 2025.
We sing weekly at the 10:30 am Sunday Mass, as well as on Christmas Eve, Holy Week, Easter and other Holy Days/Feast Days, as requested.
If you are an instrumentalist and want to contribute your gifts, please reach out to Jonathan in regards to your instrument (woodwind, brass, string, guitar, etc.) and level of ability.
We will welcome you at the 10:30 am Sunday Mass, as well as have other opportunities to perform for special Holy Days like Easter and Christmas Eve! We meet at 9:30 am on Sundays for a rehearsal with the choir.
Cantors help lead the congregation in song at all weekend Masses. Training is provided if you are interested in cantoring, but an audition/ interview is required.
Cantors help celebrate Mass at the Saturday 5:00 pm, and Sunday 8:00 am/ 10:30 am Masses.
