In our parish community of St, Gertrude, we celebrate Baptisms (for infants and children up to the age of 6) on the second & fourth Sunday of each month, following the conclusion of our 10:30 am Sunday Mass – except during Lent.
Baptisms require two months notice. Exceptions may apply, so please confirm the availability of your desired date with our rectory office.

Please note that parishes must provide two years of preparation in order for students to make their First Communion.
Parents of students making their First Communion in May 2026 will also need to fill out additional paperwork available later in the school year and email it to Eloy Escamilla, Pastoral Associate, Religious Education and Youth Ministry, at eescamilla@stgertrudechicago.org.

There is an additional $75 sacramental fee required in addition to the tuition for children making their First Communion.

Who Should Receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick?
According to the Roman ritual, anyone among the faithful “whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age” not only may, but should, receive the sacrament. Some examples include:
Reconciliations is offered on Saturday afternoons from 4:15-4:45 pm in Church and is available by appointment by calling the Rectory at 773.764.3621.
Communal Reconciliation is offered twice a year, during Lent and Advent.
